Negative Space Typography Using Pins & String
Thursday, April 19, 2012
Using Illustrator, thousands of pins and hundreds of meters of string, Australia-based tactile typographer Dominique Falla has created a large-scale typographic piece.
Titled ‘Relax and Unwind’, Falla first drew the type by hand before scanning it, redrawing it in Illustrator and then finally, creating the physical result from pin and string.
It took Falla seven hours to hammer in the pins and 18 more to wind all that string.
“I liked the idea of ‘unwinding’ being made out of wound string”
