How to Steal Banksy Work From Its Original Street Location
Wednesday, August 31, 2011Watch as original Bansky work is removed from it’s original location. Keszler Gallery has already opened the doors for their ‘Original Street Works’ exhibition featuring Banky’s street art. Lifted from their original walls in Los Angeles, Palestine, Brighton and New Orleans, dating back to as far as 2002, these works are now collected and being presented in one location. The video above features the process involved in transporting the ‘Stop and Search’ and ‘Wet Dog’ pieces from Palestine to the United Kingdom and getting the works ready for their current location in New York. The gallery is geared to run til September 30.

I really dislike how people idolize banksy’s work to the point of taking the walls out of the street. It some how just ruins the art instantly the second it taken out of the environment. Graffiti/street art belongs in the street. Maybe its just my hate for the gallery aspect of the culture, but taking away these walls is just another form of buffing/dissing. I guess the real reason I choose to bitch and complain about most of this stuff is because there are tons of talented artists that choose to paint in the street that are equally as good if not better/clever then banksy yet you don’t see people preserving there walls in gallery’s.
Graffiti is made to be forgotten.

You deserve a medal mate. That is exactly the case and you summed it up perfectly and worded it well. Good luck in the future, because you are certainly someone who knows the go.
I totally agree with The Realist, Banksy is overrated and removing walls from the streets is plain stupid. Next time I find a Banksy, I’ll write “DO NOT BUFF, THIS IS ART” over it in “Stencil” font and add cut-out lines with jackhammers all around it… just because that’s how it is. Sigh
OKAY, I could word it better like you guys, but what you really mean is, WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT??! PLEASE TELL ME THAT WAS A SPOOF OR A HOAX! WHAT WAS IT THERE? A TWO LAYER STENCIL DONE WITH MONTANA!!GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
I wonder if the Banksy crew would have made those pieces if they knew someone would subdue the message and use it to profit off of. Obviously the statement isn’t working. My town has bumper crop of wanna-be street artists, that are pretty much only riding the high tide that is Banksy, mostly crappy wheat pastes, very few stencils and definitely no originality. Maybe next you life free-loaders can find killing yourself is the coolest thing since sliced bread.
who fucking farted
