Revok Arrested for Graffiti

The Los Angeles graffiti writer Revok was recently visiting Melbourne, Australia. He was set to fly back yesterday when he was arrested at the airport by Melbourne police. The police had arrested him after he had announced his painting plans on Twitter and posted photos on his Blog. The police seized his camera, mobile phone and laptop when they arrested him at Melbourne Airport on Wednesday.
Earlier today the 32-year-old graffiti writer plead guilty to nine counts of criminal damage and was sentenced to 15 thousand dollars in fines and nine months in prison, a term that will be suspended for two years.
Revok was in Melbourne for the legal graffiti event “Clash of the Titans” which was cancelled due to the promoter encountered financial troubles.
As he left the Melbourne Custody Centre, Revok said he was sorry for what he had done.
“I feel very remorseful, very remorseful,” he said.
Asked if he knew what he was doing was illegal he replied: “Shit happens, what are you going to do?”
“I just do what I do. I came here, I did some stuff, maybe I did some things I shouldn’t have done, I apologise,” he said.
Following the cancellation he wrote: “Fuck this shit. I am going to paint as much as I can and then get the fuck out of here.”

Transport Authorised Officers from the Asset Protection Unit (APU)(Melbourne Australia) were commended this week by Victoria Police for their determined and relentless investigation into an internationally known vandal from the United States that came to Australia with the intention to, in his words, ‘….make graffiti history.’ The pathetic vandal, who goes by the name of Revok, was seized in a dramatic arrest by police at Melbourne airport as he was about to board his flight home to the USA via Sydney. He was charged with graffiti vandalism-related offences and remanded in custody.
This idiot brought himself to the attention of the APU when he vandalised one of our trains in the Macaulay sidings. Although two men were apprehended that night, Revok was unfortunately not one of
them. The APU tasked him and began to investigate. Like all graffiti vandals, his misguided obsession for notoriety was also his vulnerability, and in the case of Revok his downfall.
Using a variety of investigative methods, the APU was able to establish his identity, and from that his movements were tracked. As data was being collated, important information came to the APU that Revok was heading out of the country the same day. Then followed a timely phone call to Victoria Police. The result was that as Revok was heading to his plane thinking he was home and hosed, he was arrested, charged and remanded in custody.
His case was heard at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court the following day where he was found guilty on all counts. He received a nine-month suspended sentence and was ordered to pay $15,340(au) in restitution.
‘This result is a great example of cross-organisation cooperation and team work. The collaboration between the Victoria Police and the AO department is to be commended, said Jim Dimitrioski, Customer Service Manager for Authorised Officers and security. ‘Most importantly, a message has now been sent to would-be vandals that Australia, and in particular Melbourne and its trains, are not easy targets.’

Revok is a hero man how can anyone hate him? his art is beautiful. he pays taxes like everyone else so likewise he has the right to paint wherever he wants as his money is going to buffing it anyway. anyway, if someones gonna go put color on blank walls thats very kind of them to give people something to look at. i hate seeing blank walls, whats wrong with coloring them?

revok is a beast.. otherwise no one would care another writer got locked up.. we care because we know of him.. and we know of him because he is a fuckin pro. all that $ and time later.. he will be that much more determined to get back at it.. there is an art movement happening worldwide right now thats gettin people arrested.. in due time, society’s perspective will change and these same artists will be like all the greats before them.. unrecognized during their time.. glamorized after theyre gone..
Revok has been around since my brothers were up, and I’ve seen him up all over LA, yeah he has caused thousands of dollars in “damage” but honestly what he does really is just making things more lively and extraordinary. Sure, there are a lot of lame taggers out there that write their name big on a wall and call themselves artists, but Revok is a true artist, he makes LA what LA should be: Unique. Tagging is everywhere; fine Revok the 15,000 but that won’t stop him, much less the thousands of other “taggers” out their.
