What do you write? Where are you from? What crews do you rep?

Teck: I write Teck, HFB, WAS and I’m from Toronto.

How long have you been doing graffiti?

Teck: I’ve been painting pieces since about 1993.

How did you first get started?

Teck: I got started from seeing graffiti in the background of movies like juice and music videos like the raskalz really livin video and wu tang etc. I loved the stuff so I started writing.

Is there any significance in the name Teck?

Teck: Not at all, I started writing 2tek back in 96 and then teck, tecks tecko whatever looked good at the time.

How would you describe your style of graffiti?

Teck: My style is quick and easy, I like to be clean and readable.

Have you traveled at all with you graffiti? If so where?

Teck: I painted some in New Zealand about 10 years ago and did some pieces in New York, but other than that just Mtl, Van and Toronto.

Who’s graffiti have you been feeling lately?

Teck: I like so much its hard to say really. For local I’d say Hemps, most HSA, Rcade,Spoter, and I’ve been seeing a lot of nice stuff coming out by the younger guys these days like Adore, Mozy, Chuck and Smug.. Toronto has been weak for a long time but this year seems to be a good one so far. As for outside Toronto theres so many but to name a few right now I’ve been liking Azhq, Stae2,Enue,Rey,Virus,Tars basically I like traditional stuff.

How long have you lived in Toronto?

Teck: Pretty much my whole life.

How would you describe the Toronto graffiti scene?

Teck: I think it kinda sucks but I can’t really compare it to any other city because I dont know them.. I’m not a big fan of the hipsters, and most Toronto writers are garbage. I think theres too much bombing without style in this city.

Is there a particular painting you’ve done that you can call a favorite?

Teck: Not really, probably something from 2005 or 2006.

What’s your favorite type of paint to use?

Teck: depends on what I’m doing but Tremclad silvers good and I like kilz too.. I used some Ironlak the other day it was nice.

Do you have a favorite color combo?

Teck: no

Do you tend to use a sketch as reference or does it just come from the top of your head?

Teck: I always freestyle I haven’t used a sketch since like 2001 I think.

Do you have any good chase stories you can share with us?

Teck: all those kinds of stories are outdated I havent been chased in a long time.

What can we expect to see from you in the future?

Teck: Hopefully more colors and some wild styles. I keep telling myself to quit this shit but then I change my mind so it’s hard to say.

Do you have any last words to share with the Senses Lost readers?

Teck: have respect before putting your names up, theres too much vandalism and not enough style out there these days. Stick to the grimy buildings so you don’t piss anyone off.
