Flak Interview
Is there any significance in what you write?
Flak: Not really, just something i came up with while in high school… if I could go back and change it, I would.
Why do you think you would have chosen a different name?
Flak: I don’t know.. the 4 letters.. a bit cliché, I guess I could come up with something a little more clever.. but at this point, fuck it. Neck Face. Now theres a name I admire.
How long have you been painting?
Flak: Seriously for about 3 years.. I mean I’ve been drawing ever since I can remember, but I started writing in high school, but picked up on the street art about 2 years ago I want to say? all though freights are my true love, I’ve been at those for a few years as well.
What got you started?
Flak: For the love of art.
You do some really creative character art, how do you come up with the concepts?
Flak: I tend to let my mind wander… a little imagination never hurt anyone. but of course I have influences like Other, Labrona, Theory, 27, Berzerker… among others, they have definitely opened my eyes to a whole other world of art.
What is your favorite thing to create your art on? why?
Flak: Oh freights for sure. theres nothing better than being out in the yard all alone, having as much time as you need to just stand there and draw. Theres nothing else like it.
You and Relish are usually putting up your artwork late at night, whats the craziest story you have?
Flak: haha… well not so much crazy as creepy, you know the one… one night a few weeks back we were walking downtown to paste some shit up, this must have been around 4 am, and this guy walks up to us from behind and starts asking us random questions like where were from where were going our names.. at this point we didn’t really think much of it and we went our separate ways..so about 10 minutes later we come across him again and he tries to strike up another conversation, same shit…
Who would you like to give shout out to?
Flak: ..shout outs hey… To my boy relish for having my back late at night while the creeps and perverts run rampant, and my Mom who hasn’t stopped supporting me or my work. She knows whats up.
