Coupe Jailed for Graffiti

This is an older article but its worth the read. Basically it talks about graffiti artist Coupe’s conviction of graffiti and what he thought of it after his 60 days spent in prison. The funny thing is after Coupe was released he was asked by Detroit Artists Market to do a commissioned painting. Coupe did a large piece with a Detroit police badge in replace of his “0″.

He also wrote all the police officers, investigators and prosecutors names involved with his case. The painting is about 50 feet from the police station where the arresting officers work. The Mural reads “The beauty of art and swift fair justice is in the eye of the beholder”. This of course pissed off the police. Read more here.
